Earthplace Nursery School
Since 1967, Earthplace Nursery School, licensed by the State of Connecticut Health Department and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, offers a unique nature-oriented program, with a child centered curriculum and developmentally appropriate activities. We are dedicated to providing enjoyable learning experiences that enable children to develop a strong sense of self and an appreciation of the world around them. As of April 28, 2010, Earthplace Nursery School is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The NAEYC accreditation system was established in 1985 to set professional standards for early childhood education, and to help families identify high quality preschools. The new standards set in 2006 introduced a new level of quality, accountability, and service for children and families. These standards reflect the latest research and best practices in early childhood education and development.
"At Earthplace Nursery School we believe that children learn through exploration and discovery. Our caring teaching staff help the children explore, create and participate in concrete hands-on, multi-sensory activities. All of us at Earthplace are proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching and maintaining the highest professional standards."

Mrs. Linton's Welcome
Dear Parents:
Welcome to our nursery school! A nursery school has been part of this wonderful nature and environmental learning center since 1967. We have always been working towards forming a supportive, nurturing community among our students, teachers and parents.
There are many opportunities for parent involvement here at Earthplace. They range from collecting wood for the Seniors’ woodworking experiences to being a Room Parent. This year we are excited to announce that in addition to our “tried and true” volunteer opportunities, we will be needing your help with the Parent Organization. A Volunteer Form is available for parents to choose on which commitees they would like to participate.
We begin the year with evening Parent Orientations. The new MWF Twos, Juniors (three-year-olds) and the Seniors (four-year-olds) have their orientation on Thursday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. At that time, we introduce the staff, participate in a music, gym and animal program, discuss upcoming events, and visit the classrooms. On the next day, Friday, September 2, we have an Open House for you and your children to attend together. School will begin on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Kim Summers, the new MWF Twos teacher will be contacting families to see if they would like to participate in the home visit program.
The TTh Twos evening Parent Orientation is on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, September 15, there is the Open House designed so that families can visit the classroom with their children. School then begins on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Barbara Pisarro will contact all families in the TTh Twos class to see if they would like to take advantage of our home visit program.
We continue to have our special music, gym, and animal programs for all Junior and Senior classes. The Twos have a music program every two weeks and an animal programs every week.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Laurie Linton
Nursery School Director
